The Need in Guatemala
For over a decade, Home for a Home has been on a mission to relieve suffering and provide hope by building simple, sturdy homes for families living in extreme poverty in Guatemala. The need is enormous. More than one million people in Guatemala live in inadequate housing, often with dirt floors, plastic or metal roofs, and corn stalk walls. These shelters are no match for weather, safety, or dignity.
Home for a Home works with real estate professionals to fund and oversee the construction of modest but life-changing homes. Each new home provides a solid foundation and the peace of mind that comes with stability. For the families who receive them, it’s often the very first time they’ve lived in a secure structure they can truly call their own.
