Don’t let rainy days (or fees) get you down.

Don’t let rainy days (or fees) get you down.

As we approach the rainy season here in the Bay Area, the quality of your marketing assets is probably on the forefront of your mind. It’s always a good idea to check the weather around your listing when scheduling your appointment.

The most important takeaway is that as much as we wish we could, we cannot control the weather. As the agent, it is your responsibility to monitor the weather in the days leading up to your appointment and let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you need to reschedule your shoot.

What is the best way for me to monitor the weather?

Check out this list of the best weather apps to get a better idea of the conditions at your listing during your appointment:

Plus, here’s a little secret; our Customer Support team and our photographers often use live weather cameras to help us gauge the weather. These are free for all and are a great tool!

1. Lawrence Hall of Science

2. Belvedere Cove, Belvedere Tiburon

3. San Francisco Skyline from the Hilton San Francisco Union Square Hotel

4. Ocean Beach

5. Stanford Stadium

To search for a live weather camera closer to your property, try searching “live weather camera [Name of City]” for more specific results.

If you’re booking more than 2 weeks in advance, you can use these apps and cameras to track the weather in your area. We have a very flexible, competitive reschedule policy, which allows you to rebook this appointment with no fee up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled shoot. However, if you have to cancel or reschedule on the day of your shoot, we’ll have to charge our cancellation fee ($150) since we’ve already accommodated your shoot based on our current schedule and we will also pay our photographer for the canceled shoot.

Can I still proceed with my shoot if it’s raining?

You can absolutely proceed with shoots in gray, rainy weather. We use proprietary post-production techniques to adjust the color of our shoots, as well as add blue skies. We make it look as if it’s sunny all the time in the Bay Area!

One quick note about properties with stellar views, however: while we can replace overcast skies with blue skies, we cannot recreate skylines. So, if the home usually has a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge but it is obscured due to fog or clouds at the time of the photoshoot, we will not be able to photoshop in a shot of the bridge.

Our Blue Sky Replacement is perfect for photos, but this same kind of post-production magic cannot be applied to video, however.

Are Aerial Services included in this inclement weather policy?

Aerial Services are not included in our reschedule policy. The nature of this service puts drones in the direct path of inclement weather patterns, which will affect the quality of the marketing assets we return. There is no way to get around this. If we notice on-site that we are not able to fly, or that the marketing assets will be distorted, we are happy to reschedule this at no cost to you.
