Remembering Darrell Monda, Founder of TourFactory Bay Area

The Bay Area real estate community lost a trailblazer on New Year’s Eve with the passing of Darrell Monda. Darrell was the founder and president of TourFactory Bay Area.

In the mid 2000s, TourFactory and Open Homes were two of only a few real estate marketing companies in the Bay Area offering professional photography and media services. It was a small industry at the time, and Darrell played a pivotal role in shaping it. He left a lasting mark on real estate marketing across the South Bay, and we are proud to have been his peer to the north in San Francisco. Many industries are fiercely competitive, but Darrell believed in growing the industry as a whole.

TourFactory first coined the term “Virtual Tour” to describe a property website — and it caught on quickly. When an agent called asking for a Virtual Tour and meant a website, it was a telltale sign they had come from TourFactory – Darrell’s franchise in particular.

Darrell was a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a San Jose State graduate, and a devoted community member in Los Gatos.

Darrell Monda leaves behind an impressive legacy, in our industry and beyond.
