Why order a 3D Matterport Tour?

More agents are ordering 3D Matterport Tours than ever before – and for good reason. The tours have always been useful for helping potential buyers explore a space and they’re only becoming more popular as agents look for alternatives in a post COVID-19 world.

In fact, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), buyers and agents alike are benefitting from featuring their homes using Matterport:
  • 55% of buyers would buy a property using 3D Tours sight-unseen.
  • 95% of people are more likely to call about properties with 3D Virtual Tours.
  • 74% of agents using 3D Tours win more listings.
Matterport Tours aren’t just a great way to help potential buyers better understand the space. They arguably offer some of the most bang for your buck out of all our services. From just one Matterport Tour appointment, agents have access to the Tour itself (and for additional fees) they can also order outdoor scans, detached scans, 2D and/or 3D Floor Plans, and a short video for social media.

Outdoor scans and detached scans

In addition to the regular tour, some agents also choose to add on outdoor scans and detached scans in order to add value to their tour.
Matterport scanners cannot function in direct sunlight. Because of this, outdoor scans (also called 360º scans) are the best way to capture backyards, decks, and patios. Not sure where to find your outdoor scans? One easy way to find them is to click to view the home in “Dollhouse” mode in the bottom-left area. The small white circles show each outdoor scan.

Another way to explore the outdoor scans is to walk through the home until you see a white icon that says “360.” Clicking on any of these icons will transport you to that vantage point.

One quick note about outdoor scans: viewers will not be able to walk around a backyard or other outdoor area like they can in a normal tour.

Detached scans are slightly different. They are used in cases where the scanner cannot physically continue its route within one house. For example, there may be a separate cottage on the property that an agent wants scanned. This can be done in a detached scan which offers more coverage than an outdoor scan.

One quick note about detached scans: detached scans will have their own link, just like the regular Matterport Tour will have its own link. There is no way to combine two scans together so that they both appear within the same tour. For example, the separate cottage would be delivered in one link, while the tour of the rest of the home would be delivered in another link.

Short videos for use on social media

You may have seen us post short videos on our Instagram account for #MatterportMondays. If you’d like us to send you a short video for your property, just email us! We’ll be happy to send them over. It is important to note, however, that Matterport provides these short, pre-made videos and so we have no control over their length, starting points, or stopping points.
